Hello readers! I am a student. I am writing this blog as on celebrated Romantic poet P. B. Shelley. This blok task has given by Medha ma'am.
Percy Bysshe shelley was british writer ,dramatist, essayist and novelist. List of great romantic poets is incomplete without name of p. B. Shelley.
Family and early life
P. B. Shelly was born on 4 August, 1792 in U. K. and died on 8july ,1822 in lerici, Italy. The eldest son of sir Timothy shelley a whig memberof parliament for Horsham. His wife was Elizabeth plifold.
Shelley had four younger sister and one much younger brother. Shelley's early childhood was shelterd and mostly happy. He was particularly close to his sister and mother. Who encouraged him to hunt, fish ans ride.
Shelley Romantic poet
A radical in his poetry as well as in his political and social views. Shelley did not achive fame during his lifetime, but recognition of his achievements in poetry grew ateadily following his death. And he become an important influence on subsequent generation of poets.
Along with Robert Browning, Algernon charles, Thomas Hardy and William Butler yeats. American literary critic Harold Bloom describes him as,
"A superb craftman, a lyric poet with at rival and surely one of the most advanced sceptical intellects ever to write a poem. "
Works of shelley
In his whole caarier shelley has given many notable prose and verse works. Some are as below,
Ozymandias, ode to west wind, to a skylark, the philosophical essay The necessity of Athecism, a political ballad The mask of Anarchy.
Some verse are a drama The cenci, long poem such as Alastor, or the spirit of solitude, julian and Maddalo widely consider his master piece Hellas and his incomplete work The Triumph of life.
Shelley's writing style
As a romantic poet shelley has his own themes of writing. His poetrys was full of tremendous imagery and symbolism. His imagery is primarily visual.
Shelley used lot of metaphor and similes as well, he used a sequence of similes, in poetrys such as 'to the skylark'.he also known for his lyrical and long form verse.
Shelley's joy, his masnanimily, his faith in humanity, and his optimistim, are unique among the Romantic. his expression of those feelings makes him one of the early nineteenth century most significant writers in english.
Political views of shelley
Shelley was a political radical influenced by thinkers such as Rousseau, Paine, Godwin, Wollstonecraft, and Leigh Hunt.He advocated Catholic Emancipation, republicanism, parliamentary reform, the extension of the franchise, freedom of speech and peaceful assembly, an end to aristocratic and clerical privilege, and a more equal distribution of income and wealth.The views he expressed in his published works were often more moderate than those he advocated privately because of the risk of prosecution for seditious libel and his desire not to alienate more moderate friends and political allies.Nevertheless, his political writings and activism brought him to the attention of the Home Office and he came under government surveillance at various periods.
