Aphra Behn's The Rovar
Aphra Behn's "The Rover"
Hello learners. I am a student. This blog is part of thinking activity which has assigned by Medhama'am. In this blog i will try to answer some questions.
1.Angelina consider the financial negotiations that one make before marriging a prospective bride the same as prostitute. Do you agree?
Comparing financial negotiations in a marriage to a prostitute's transactions is not an appropriate or valid comparison. Marrying someone and engaging in financial discussions as a couple is a completely different context from prostitution.
Marriage is a legal and social institution based on love, commitment, and shared responsibilities, while prostitution involves the exchange of money for sexual services. These two situations should not be equated in any way.
It's important to remember that opinions on sensitive topics like this can vary greatly. Angelica's perspective may be influenced by her own experiences or beliefs. Comparing financial negotiations before marriage to prostitution is quite extreme, and many people would not agree with that comparison.
These negotiations often involve financial planning and discussions about the future, which are an important aspect of a committed relationship.
2."All women together ought to let flowers fall upon the tomp of Aphra Behn, for it was she who earned them the right to speak their minds "
Virginia Woolf said so in "Room of one's own". Do you agree with reference to you reading of the play ' The Rover '?
works of aphra Behn is prove that how bold she was. Not only me but everyone can agree that all womens are grateful to have writer as Aphra Behn. A good writer must affected from society and it's problems. But Aphra behn has opposed that problem with help of her works.
Dialogues, character depiction, females' attitude is strong and bold. A female writer of 17century Behn has try to break typical norms, restrictions and barriers of women.
However, it's essential to recognize that a single work doesn't define a writer's entire contribution to literature. Behn's significance in history should be acknowledged, but evaluating whether "The Rover" specifically contributes to women's right to speak their minds would require a closer analysis of the play's themes, characters, and historical context.
3.which female character best represent the playwright, Aphra Behn?
Consider of each female character and make an argument that relates these distinctiv attributes to what you know about Behn.
The play rover has two to three characters which i can say represents Aphra Behn. In "The Rover" by Aphra Behn, the character most commonly associated with representing the playwright herself is Hellena.
Being independent and witty :
Hellena is known for her independence and wit. She is not willing to conform to societal expectations and is unafraid to speak her mind. Aphra Behn was also known for her independence and strong personality, as she was one of the first women to earn a living through writing. Behn's works often featured bold and outspoken female characters, mirroring her own determination to break gender barriers in the literary world.
Fight with gender norms :
Hellena challenges traditional gender norms, much like Aphra Behn did in her own life. Behn was a pioneer in a male-dominated literary world, and her writing often challenged societal expectations placed on women. Hellena's refusal to be a passive character in her own story can be seen as a reflection of Behn's own determination to break free from societal constraints.
Sense of humor :
Hellena's wit and sense of humor mirror Aphra Behn's own writing style. Behn was known for her clever and humorous writing, and Hellena's character exhibits similar traits. Both Behn and Hellena used humor as a tool to critique societal norms and expectations
There no any raplica of Aphra Behn in play rover but as we discussed above this are some points which are similar of Hellena and Aphra Behn herself.
